Description

Pp. 44+[2](author's device, verso blank), photogravure frontispiece; reddish-brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, with the author's device of an Egyptian ankh in gilt on upper board, edges of boards faintly faded; fore and bottom edges uncut; dust wrapper, faintly soiled, edges and backstrip browned, a little silverfish damage below top edge of front panel near backstrip; John Lane The Bodley Head, London, 1938. Second edition. Foss A18b. *First published by The Golden Cockerel Press in 1934, in a limited edition of 277 copies with illustrations by Robert Gibbings. According to Foss (p. 65), this edition was 'substantially altered' from the first edition: 'almost 1000 words were omitted, mostly towards the end where there is an attack on schoolmen theologians'.

All books are in very good, or better, condition with defects, if any, fully described. Traditional trade terms apply. Items are offered subject to prior sale. A full postal service is available. Packing, postage and insurance charges are extra.
