Lacking portrait frontispiece of the author. A fascinating work providing a detailed and comprehensive glossary of the dialect used in the North of England in the early nineteenth century. Written by John Trotter Brockett, a British attorney, antiquarian, philologist and numismatist. From an original manuscript, in the Library of John George Lambton, or "Radical Jack," a British Whig statesman, and Governor General and High Commissioner of British North America, with considerable additions to the work. Bound in quarter brown crushed morocco with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the boards. A crack to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting. A tear across page vii sympathetically repaired. Good
