The author's hunting and fishing experiences in Maine. In part he details events that took base between McGowan Pond and Pratt Lake Stream in the northern part of Aroostook County, Maine. These stories are based on the author's lifelong love of the woods and, in the author's words, "presented in the hope that they may inspire in the hearts of the great brotherhood of sportsmen a deeper love for Nature and her boundless playgrounds, and aid in ennobling the excitement of the chase with the exercise of thoughtfulness and humanity." It is illustrated by W. Herbert Dunton and contains black and white photo plates and page margin animal sketches.
