About This Item

Hard cover+jacket, 23x23 cm, 320 pp., ill., mostly color plates; net weight 1470 gr.

"Godbuilt" emphasises the conviction of Konstantinidis that the anonymous architecture and the Greek landscape itself are the existing and necessary foundations of modern Greek architecture. From the beginning of his career, Konstantinidis opposed the architectural imitation of forms belonging to the past as well as the tendency of many architects to copy contemporary european models which were designed to meet the needs of different environments. He opened the way leading to a new concept of Greek architecture which is founded on the teachings and the needs of modern times while it assimilates the essence –but not the form– of the local architectural tradition. The Greek edition is also available.
