Cincinnati: Jennings & Pye, 1902. Hardcover. Small 4to. Black pebble-grain full calf with gilt spine lettering and rules, inner dentelles. 232pp. All edges gilt. Frontispiece, numerous illustrations, blue marbled endpapers, sewn-in ivory satin page marker. Near fine. A tight, quite attractive first edition of these nature appreciation essays by this Methodist Episcopal bishop (1860-1925). Not the common green cloth binding invariably seen, but a handsome custom leather treatment. An all-around spectacular copy.
