James Weldon Johnson was a leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance, and one of the most revered African Americans of all time, whose life demonstrated the full spectrum of struggle and success. First Edition Identification

The first edition of God's Trombones was published by Viking Press, New York, in 1927. The original cover art and drawings were by Aaron Douglas, and the letting by C.B. Falls.
