The first of Robert B. Parker's Spenser Series. Private Investigator Spenser is hired by an unnamed university in Boston to track down a stolen illuminated manuscript from the Middle Ages. The head of a student group seemingly tied to the theft is murdered, and a blond co-ed seems responsible, although Spenser knows there's more to the murder and the theft.
