New York: The John Day Company, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. First American Edition (stated). The first novel Patrick O'Brian (1914-2000) ever wrote about the sea, a precursor to the acclaimed Aubrey/Maturin series. Octavo. Original yellow cloth binding, with gray titles. Tiny crease to the top corner of the first two leaves. Some mild toning and wear to the dust jacket, with a small label shadow to the front flap and a very faint stain to the spine heel; otherwise very good.
