Eyre & Spottiswoode. London. 1939. Sixth Edition. Originally published in 1931. Signed by Cotton below his printed portrait photo on the frontispiece "Henry Cotton. Upton 1942". Aside from the frontis there are 10 full page mono photo plates. A clean copy throughout. Publishers orange cloth with black lettering to the spine. The cloth is mottled and faded but still clean and tidy. With the original colour dustwrapper featuring an illustration by Cecil Aldin to the front panel. Split top the front hinge repaired with clear archive tape to the reverse. One chip (about 1.4 inches long and 0.4 inches deep at its worst) to the top of the front panel and small amount of chipping to the extremities but still overall a near to very good copy of this pre war edition with the added bonus of Cotton's signature.
