New Yok: The Macmillan Company, 1936. Beautifully signed by Margaret Mitchell at front endpaper: "Margaret Mitchell". Rarity now over eighty years in existence, and, in the original first printing wrapper. This signed first edition, first printing, the May 1936 printing, is ultra-rare as are any of her signed books or other items. In a letter dated February, 1937, Margaret Mitchell wrote that she would no longer sign her book, nevermore more for friends or even relatives. Butternut (greyish brown) full cloth boards, navy stamped cover and spine titles, light shelf wear, bump. Deckled pages very good; no writing. Bind fine; hinges intact. Beautiful first printing dust wrapper, moderate edge wear, chip, clipped flap corner; priced 3.00, protected in new clear sleeve. First state wrapper denoted by Charles Morgan's 'Sparkenbroke' listed at top of first column on back panel. Very good signed first printing in same wrapper. Unparalleled drama, action and romance flower within the breathtaking wonders of this inspired spectacle of the written word and the most magnificently, exciting love story, ever! There were over one hundred printings of the first edition. Only 10,000 copies were produced of this true first printing in May, 1936. The subsequent June printing sold 50,000 copies on its first day, and two million after a year. Even though it is 1,037 pages long, readers all over the world snatched up the book; by 1937 it was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the film rights had been sold to David O. Selznick. Mitchell prided herself on the historical accuracy of her work; and it is a sweeping account of how the Civil War tore apart an entire way of life. The stirring drama of the War Between the States and Reconstruction is brought vividly to life in this magnificent novel. Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara remain two of the most enduring characters in American fiction. Insured post. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" Tall. Book.

London: Macmillan and Co. Limited, 1906. First edition, only printing. Hardcover. This is the first edition of Churchill's biography of his father, inscribed on the day before publication to Churchill's lifelong friend, confidante, and best man at his wedding, Hugh Cecil. The unusually personal inscription inked in black in four lines on the Volume I front free endpaper recto reads: "Linky / from / Winston S.C / 1 January 1906". The ink is mildly age-toned, but remains distinct with no discernable age-spreading. The inscription page remains clean and bright. The books retain square and tight original bindings with sharp corners and nicely rounded spines. There is minor wear at the spine ends, mild sunning and staining of the spines, and a few spots on the Volume II covers. The contents are clean, bright, and complete. Spotting in both volumes is moderate, primarily confined to prelims and untrimmed page edges. Each volume is housed in its own quarter dark red Morocco goatskin Solander case, hued…

Berlin: S. Fischer, 1922. First Edition. Wraps. Owner name of George Goetz dated 1939 on the front endpaper well above Hesse's inscription with a small stain at the bottom corner well below Hesse's inscription. A few marginal pencil notations, likely by Goetz. Some aging to the paper but at least Very Good and very scarce when signed. Thin octavo (5-3/4" x 8-3/4") bound in the publisher's heavy brown wraps with black lettering on the front cover and a later cloth tape hand-lettered spine; [1-8], 9-146, [-147], [1, blank], [2, publisher's ads]. The true First Edition with the text in German of one of this Nobel Prize winner's two famous and important novels, the other being of course STEPPENWOLF. This copy is SIGNED in ink by the author with a brief inscription on the front endpaper. Hesse based this book on the early life of Gautama Buddha. The story of a son rebelling against his father's teaching and traditions and eventually finding true enlightenment resonated with those maturing in the 1960s…
