Gone With the Wind. New York: Macmillan, 1936.

8vo. Original gray cloth; shaken; spine crease with some rubbing to joints and spine ends.

A later printing SIGNED BY MITCHELL, "Margaret Mitchell Atlanta Ga Nov 17 1936:. Affixed to the rear endpapers is a November, 1936 TLS on Georgia Power Company letterhead from Mitchell's husband John Marsh, notifying the recipient that a signed copy was on its way, but oddly speculating that the work might disappoint some new readers as it has been so highly praised.

Margaret Mitchell politely refused to sign any more copies of the book after December of 1936, according to Heritage Auctions. This copy is signed and dated November 17th, 1936, potentially making it one of the last few copies Mitchell ever signed.

The owner of the book was a Lexington, KY woman who knew John Marsh during the time he lived in Lexington. Marsh was born in Maysville, KY and graduated from the University of Kentucky. He worked at the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper. At the time Marsh worked for the paper, it was still the Lexington Leader. It merged with the Lexington Herald in 1983.
