About This Item

Stated First Edition. Ex-library book in --above-- condition with moderate use. Includes library stickers, stamps, markings and writing. DJ in clear Mylar cover with some stickers. The overall appearance of the cover and pages are consistant with the copyright date. This image is the actual book. Tanning of cover and pages. This book by the author of "Where Did You Go?" "Out." "What Did You Do?" "Nothing" is about the little red wagons that people keep dragging around. "Some people," he says, "have a whole train of them. Some people keep dragging them all, all their lives, some manage to lose a few, some add a few, but all of us keep hauling pieces of our childhood on wheels, usually creaking, behind us." The wagons are full of priceless information that, somewhat to our embarrassment, still affects our behavior. Mr. Smith thought it might be useful to examine the career of Paul Marrane, a fictional character whose identity at certain points suggests his own, in an effort to find out how he had loaded his wagon in the first place. He thought he might then be able to jettison a few of the impedimenta in his wagon. It is his hope that this book may suggest the same process to you. "Lord knows," he says, "we could all use lighter wagons." 1969. T16.
