The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck - 1939

First Edition/First Printing with correct statement on copyright page with no mention of subsequent printings; in a first issue dust jacket stated on front flap with price of $2.75. In publisher's tan cloth with spine titles in purple and with pictorial design extending across the lower portion of both covers and spine, with Battle Hymn of the Republic printed on the endpapers. A fine copy in a nearly fine dust jacket. An outstanding copy of this classic of American literature and Pulitzer Prize winner, very scarce in this condition and in the first printing. This book is in fine condition with a crisp, tight binding, bright lettering on the spine, and clean white pages; only a couple of trivial spots to the front gutter and some very light toning to the endpapers. Housed in a near fine dust jacket that is clean and bright with only minor rubbing to the ends and edges, two small chips to the spine foot, some minor age toning to the flap edges, and some mild darkening to the spine. This volume is protected by an archival cover and stored in a handsome, embossed clamshell case that shows some light wear to the ends and edges and a little darkening to the edges of the embossment. A copy of this novel in this condition is getting harder and harder to find and is a must have for the Steinbeck collector; a bucket list item!
