Black leatherette binding with full colour illustration pasted in on front with gilt border and gilt title on front and spine. The illustration on front: As a harbor pilot waves a greeting, the Cunard LIne's great Queen Mary steams past the Ambrose Lightship at the entrance to New York Bay In this 1959 painting by Jack Gray. Very clean and unmarked, whisper of wear to corners, sewn binding tight and solid, square. Internals pristine, Endpapers illustrated with map of the North Atlantic Ocean and ports of call for the great ocean liners. Before the jet age, travel to Europe and afar was like traveling in a grand hotel, in the great liners like The Leviathan, the Titanic, the Queen Mary, the Ile de France, the Normandie, and others that transported millions back and foprth betgween the US and Europe.
