Very clean single volume (Vol. II) of the eight volume edition of this well-produced series, containing illustrated biographies of prominent men and women. Generously illustrated throughout with tissue-protected photogravures, wood engravings and typogravures. Three quarter deep rich brown morocco leather over textured brown cloth, spine and cover lettering and decoration in gilt, four slightly raised spine bands, all edges tinted red, marbled endpapers, about 12 inches tall, 9 inches wide, and about an inch thick. Very good condition with some very light shelf rubbing, firm binding, very clean pages with no names or other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
