About This Item
New York, New York: Farrar and Rinehart, 1929. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A very good book, and a wonderful play published in Robert Littell, a well regarded critic in the early 20th century writing forThe New York World. "It is something at once so moving, so intimately childlike and majestic, that you feel you have spent an evening, not in the theater, but in the mind of some Negro as he sat listening to his preacher tell the story, with explanations and little touches out of everyday life, of the Lords long battle with the sinful humans he created." 1929. Universal praise for the play is evident in the quality of the reviewers in the liner notes. The spine is faded but quite readable. Jacket is not clipped($2.00) , with chipping to spine ends. Corners of both book and cover, are sharp and undamaged in any way. Very nice cover in very tight book. This is a rare and important collectible in remarkably fine condition. Protected in Mylar.
