Warsaw, Biblioteka Groszowa, [c. 1927]. 8vo, two volumes. Original cloth-backed boards, printed in orange and black, spines lettered in gilt; pp. 167; 175; only minor wear to bindings; contents browned as usual. Tadeusz Lucjan Gronowski (1894-1990) is the father of Polish poster design, responsible for the logo of the Polish airline Lot, still in use, worked between the wars on and off as interior designer for luxury shops in Paris, amongst them Galeries Lafayette, book designer and set designer for Warsaw Theatres. The present work is a rare survival, as the American novelist's work was published in a series of affordable books, mass-produced and not destined to survive for long.
