Description

Haymarket., 2015. Softcover. Very Good. Groove: An Aesthetic for Measured Time (ISBN: 9781608464845): In "Groove," author Mark Abel explores the concept of groove as a fundamental element in music and life. He delves into the history of groove, from its origins in African and African American musical traditions to its presence in various genres, including jazz, funk, and hip-hop. Abel argues that groove is not merely a musical quality but a cultural and social force that can unite people and inspire creativity. Through insightful analysis and examples, he demonstrates how groove transcends musical boundaries and influences the rhythm of our daily lives. "Groove" offers a compelling perspective on the power of rhythm and its profound impact on human expression and connection. Crisp, clean, unread book with some shelfwear/edgewear. May have remainder marks, often with a black dot or similar mark, to the top or bottom edge of the book.
