The book and dust jacket (dj) are in Very Good condition. Green boards with gold lettering along spine. Slight slant. The boards and dj are bumped and rubbed, most notably at head & foot of spine and corners. Some creasing noted along edges of dj. Illustrated historical account of the origin and development of forestry in Queensland from the founding of the Queensland Forestry Department in 1900. During World War I the department recognised that future needs for timber would not be met by native forests and experimental work was accordingly started on growing plantations. Most timber now produced in Queensland comes from these plantations. Techniques had to be developed by trial and error. They are now very sophisticated and spread across many disciplines.
