Description

Introduced and Edited by Brereton Greenhous. From the back of the jacket: "Canada's gold rush of the late 1890's attracted dreamers and schemers from all over North America. This is one story from that turbulent period of the men sent to guard the Yukon and maintain order. The Yukon Field Force, of which Edward Lester was a spirited member, was dispatched to provide an armed presence in Canada's northern-most region, and represented the first time armed troops had been sent to the huge region lying north of 60 degrees latitude. The decision to send the Force to the Yukon was the product of the Canadian government's genuine fear that the heavy American presence in the region--at least 80 percent of the population of the Territory were U.S. citizens--could result in violence and mayhem or possibly even annexation."

After closing my most recent bookstore in White Rock, B.C., I have decided to sell strictly online for the foreseeable future. My inventory is heavy on children's and other illustrated books, along with aviation, sea and naval and other categories. I'm still plugging along after 42 years of book-selling.
