Description:
London: H.M. Stationery Office (The Festival of Britain), 1951 First edition. Paperback: grey card wrappers, lettered in white and black to front with red, white and blue Festival symbol (Britannia) printed to front. 52pp, + 48pp trade adverts; quarto, stapled. With b&w photos, plans and line illustrations in the main text section, as well as colour plan of the site in the centre spread. The exhibition of architecture was on a site in Lansbury, Poplar. Authors of texts include Frederick Gibberd and G.A. Jellicoe. The trade adverts have various colour images- mostly building firms and including flats developments in various parts of London. This is one of the scarcer Festival of Britain books. A Very Good copy. Contents clean and well-bound with some rust to the staples in centre; the wrappers have light wear to edges with some small abrasions to back, and a few small marks.
