From the publisher

In the mid-1970s, while working with Ram Dass (Grist for the Mill 1976) and teaching meditation in the California prison system, Stephen Levine met Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. For the next few years he led workshops with her and learned from the terminally ill the need for deeper levels of healing and the profound joy of service (A Gradual Awakening, 1979).  In 1979 he began teaching workshops with his wife, Ondrea, as they continue to serve the terminally ill and those deeply affected by loss as co-directors of the Hanuman Foundation Dying Project (Who Dies?, 1982). For three years they maintained a free-consultation telephone line for those confronting serious illness or the possible death of a loved one (Meeting at the Edge, 1984). As the Levines continued to gain insight from those who approached illness with a merciful awareness, their explorations deepened while further meditative techniques were developed to "let healing in." Their guided meditations for healing grief, heavy emotional states, sexual abuse, and subtler forms of life/death preparation brought them international recognition (Healing into Life and Death, 1987).
Presently Stephen and Ondrea Levine live in the high mountains of the Southwest, "attempting to practice what we preach" in the silence of the deep woods, seeking "the healing we took birth for."  They no longer have a telephone or do individual counseling, as their energies, for now, are mostly directed inward.  To continue "the work" they have created Warm Rock Tapes (P.O. Box 108, Chamisal, NM 87521) to share the guided meditations and talks from the few times a year they "go out" to teach.  Their long-awaited Relationships as a Path of Awakening is soon to be published, as is a book of poetry, Healings, and an "autobiography of the heart."
