About This Item
London: A. & C. Black , 1919. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5" . None . A bright copy of the first impression of Charles Morgan's first published novel. The first edition, first impression of Charles L Morgan's first uncommon book. This novel was never reprinted during his lifetime, and was condemned due to his denunciation of the treatment of the midshipmen in the pre-war Royal Navy. The story follows the experiences of a young midshipman in the Royal Navy, after the author's own experiences. A very smart copy. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally smart with minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, sunning to the spine. A very minor cocking forward of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are clean with only a hint of age toning, as usual due to the type of paper used. Very Good
