1888 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed and Inscribed By the Author. Written on the first free end paper of the book, Narrative and Legendary Poems by Whittier, 316 of 400 copies, limited, Signed and dated by John G. Whittier (I can't read the month) 18, 1888 who hand-wrote a two stanza, eight line segment from My Triumph that starts "Others shall sing the song," on the first free end paper. The book is uncut and only in good condition. It is water stained along the bottom edge, but still clean and tight with no other writing. A hole in the spine has been professionally restored. This is a great and unusual item for a Whittier collector..
