About This Item
London UK: Oxford University Press, 1962 Very much an extremely scarce book and very much a reading copy, an ex school library book in poor condition. Hans and Peter was written and Illustrated by a fifteen year old girl as a birthday present for a young friend, it tells the story of two young boys who convert an old shed into a playhouse. Her lively illustrations have been described as 'Breuglesque' (see scans) and the theme of making a shed into a living space is very attractive to many, including your seller (see dannygregorysblog on this).
Originally published in Switzerland, this is from the first English language edition issued by Oxford University Press in 1962, and so far as I have been able to determine, is the only one for sale anywhere. There are copies available to the first US edition published a year later by Harcourt Brace. Unpaginated small quarto in poor condition sans jacket with school stamps, crayon to end pages, bumped corners and damage to top and tail.
