A very scarce proof copy of this historical fiction novel based on stories from the Sioux Lakota tribe, by Ruth Beebe Hill. A very scarce uncorrected proof copy of the first edition. In the publisher's wraps. Inspired by and based on the tribe of Lakota, Sioux, this historical novel follows the lives of two Indian families living on the Great Plains before the arrival of the white man. The story originated from the desire of an elder from the real tribe to bridge the gap of understanding between the white man and the Sioux using their 100-year winter court (i.e. drawings of the significant historical events of the tribe on animal hides or muslin).  In the publisher's wraps. Externally, very smart with slight fading to the wraps and the odd mark. Inscription to the front. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
