First Edition Identification

The true first edition is considered the 1997 UK Bloomsbury edition, and copies are extremely scarce. Only about 500 hardcover copies were printed in the first run, so those are typically the most valuable of the original 5,000 copy run.

There are several points for true first editions. First, the word Bloomsbury is included in the title page. Second, the copyright date is 1997. Third, the copyright page will include the full number line. And finally, there is a misprint on page 53, which lists "1 wand" twice in the school supplies list.
