Some minor offsetting to the blank endpapers but overall a clean and tidy copy of this scarce book.

Collins. London. 1959. PROOF COPY OF FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.9 x 5.5 inches). Illustrated throughout with charming line drawings by Judith Brook, including both sets of endpapers. A very good clean copy in publishers blue marbled paper wraps. In the original full colour illustrated dustwrapper, designed by Selma Nankivell, featuring illustrated adverts for the first two of Michael Bond's Paddington Bear titles on the rear cover. A crease to the lower rear panel and a little rubbing and chipping to the extremities but overall a very good book in a very good dustwrapper. A scarce item.

A little light foxing to just a few pages but overall a very good copy, finely bound, by Riviere Bookbinder of Bath, in early half dark blue calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments lettered and ruled in gilt. Navy blue cloth on boards. All edges Marbled. Blue marbled endpapers. School prize plate from Charterhouse on the front pastedown endpaper, dated 1932, signed by Frank Fletcher, the headmaster and presented to G. C. Riall. School arms stamped in gilt to the front board. The spine fo the book is rubbed and darkened but still an attractive copy of the lovely book.

Illustrated throughout with ninety-two (42 +50) fabulous line engravings by John Tenniel. Very good clean copy in fine leather binding of half dark green morocco for Charles E. Lauriat of Boston. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Boards covered in Mid green cloth on boards, with the gilt stamp of Brooks School, Andover, Massachusetts seal on the front board. Top edge gilt. Plain green endpapers. Minor fading to the spine but overall a very good copy in an attractive fine binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master Bookbinder.

(3.9 x 2.5 inches). 48pp, including the first and last blanks which are pasted directly onto the inside leaves of the printed wrappers. Sewn text pages. Illustrated with a full page wood-engraved frontispiece of Captain Gulliver and 12 smaller woodcuts within the text. Original blue printed paper wrappers with upside-down double face illustration on lower cover. Neat ink title written on the front panel otherwise a fine copy of this scarce little edition, issued in Ross's Juvenile Library. A remarkable survivor. The work is undated but the British Library catalogue suggests a publication date of either 1814 or 1815, while the Bodleian Library estimates 1815.

Harris and Son. London. 1820. FIRST EDITION. 12mo. (7 x 4.3 inches). 36pp. Illustrated with hand coloured vignette to the title page and 12 hand coloured woodcuts among the text. Some general thumbing and spotting to most pages. The hand colouring is still bright and vivid throughout. Dis-bound, but complete, in original fawn card boards, printed in black. The boards are rubbed and worn, making some the the printed area quite faint, and there are a few stains. Previous owner names and gift inscriptions, one dated 1820, on the inner front board. ---- Rare in first edition.
