Description

Boston: Houghton, Mifflin, 1900. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Light brown cloth with white and green floral design with gilt-stamped title on front board and spine. Illustrated by Howard Pyle, E.B. Thompson, A.W. Betts, and Emlen McConnell. Front hinge cracked with spine cocked, else very good. Adapted for the screen in 1916 and in 1922 set in Virginia and starring Bert Lytell and Betty Compson.
