Tokyo: Kyobunkwan, 1938. Hardcover. vg. 8vo. 127pp. Stitched red limp cloth in brocade folding slipcase (chitsu) with ivory clasps. Minor discoloration to inside of slipcase. Tipped-in color woodblock print frontispiece. "This work covers the Oshima Leper Colony. Eight of the provinces of Japan have joined in establishing a hospital for lepers there. Only the destitude are taken... These stories are part of a book called 'Mi Sora No Hana' (Flowers of Heaven), written by Honami Nagata, one of the first to learn the Way of Life. He is the leader of the Poetry Club at Oshima, and a constant contributor to the monthly magazine published by the Christians there... the story of Nagata's life is told as nearly in his own words as possible" (from the introduction by Lois Johnson Erickson). Wonderfully illustrated with in-text drawings. In very good condition.
