The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a well-renowned English writer of travel books, novels and biographies. This is Waugh's sole historical fiction work. It follows Helena of Constantinople and her mission to find the relics of the cross on which Christ was crucified. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart and bright, with some loss to the gilt spine lettering. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
