A tight, attractive first edition of this well-known study. 1965 ownership signature on front flyleaf of critic Perry E. Gianakos, author of "American Diplomacy and the Sense of Destiny" among other titles, and from the library of academic and literary critic Joseph J. Waldmeir (1923-2013), who pens and pencils a few margin notes and squiggles in the first couple chapters (only).
