Washington City: Published For the Author, 1870. First Edition. Wraps bound into ¾ leather. Spine chipping in the leather, corners rubbed. Hinges good./No Jacket. Presentation to General Winfield S. Hancock. Also tipped in is an Hancock signature with Maj Gen after his name. Very rare narrative from directly after the War. Heavy on the navy and which is disrespectful in many ways to both the service and high ranking officers. It has a "chapter," he calls them "letters," on the Red River Campaign. Wraps bound into ¾ leather. Text VG+. THIS IS A PRESENTATION COPY TO THE GREAT UNION CIVIL WAR GENERAL, WINFIELD S. HANCOCK. THERE IS AN INSCRIPTION ON THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER TO THAT AFFECT. HANCOCK WAS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN THE 1880S. also TIPPED IN IS THE SIGNATURE OF HANCOCK WITH MAJ GEN AFTER HIS NAME. A RARE COMBINATION!!
