Westmorland: The Westmorland Gazette, 1983. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. This book was originally printed privately in 1944, based on articles written for the "Westmorland Gazette", then in 1945 was published by the Westmorland Gazette and reprinted several times. This copy is from the 1983 reprint. More than 50 farmhouses, each with a page of exterior and interior photographs faced by a page do of narrative. Including, just as random examples, Burneside Hall, Fellfoot Farm (Langdale), Heversham Hall, Townend (Troutbeck), Yanwath Hall. A goldmine for local and family historians as well as those interested in the vernacular architecture of Cumbria or the North of England more generally. A beautifully preserved copy in a transparent wrapper. (The wrapper has yellowed but the dustjacket under it is virtually pristine). No internal markings but a previous owner's bookplate inside the front board. 125 pages. 10" x 7.5". I have not priced this at the bottom of the online price range as it is such a well-kept copy which I believe to be well worth the price.
