Hurst, Robinson, and Co. Constab, 1825-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good. in x in x in. Three volumes in full calf with gilt & blindstamped rules & decoration, five raised bands, marbled endpapers, marbled page edges. Frontispieces (including one folding) to each of the three volumes, additional engraved plates within textblock showing (usually) native dress & occupation. Page 99/100 of vol III is clipped at the bottom corner--margin only, no text loss. All three foredges of vol's I and II are rubbed--it looks almost as if someone tried to rub or sand off the marbling, but apparently they stopped before attacking volume three. Leather boards have some dings and short pulls. Main flaw to set is that all three books have been repaired at the hinges. This is a (reversible) repair, not a full restoration, with a new leather spine laid down, and then the original backstrip and covers reattached. This makes it functional, strong, and it looks good (the leather is a near perfect match.) Repairs done by Red Branch in Ashland, Oregon. Pages are clean with minimal foxing.
