The modern translator, Seeber, describes this translation as the "product of a prosaic and incompetent literary hack" (please tell us how you really feel). It also omits about 40% of the original work leaving out daily interactions with Americans, Native Americans, and the most colorful events. Condition is Very Good: modern fine binding is excellent. Interior has scattered foxing and toning, no writing or old ownership marks. Marginal pencil mark on final page. Frontis edge conserved. Paginates: frontis, [2], 102, 5 plates, modern blanks. The pamphlet prints the remarks of the Elders at the funeral service, the hymns sung, the procession, etc. Front cover slightly soiled, small ink stain on back cover, interior clean. Fine. Rare.

Very minimally Ex-Library, with a faint letter "K" on the spine, and the letter "C" at the bottom of the same page. Black buckram cloth binding, with gilt stamped lettering on spine. Original paper covers bound at end of volume, show a penciled name at the top of one, and a chipped corner at the bottom of another. Cloth covers show a little rubbing along bottom edges. Volumes remains very tight and otherwise clean. Nice copies of this scarce Kansas history and literary magazine.
