The book features a frontispiece engraving of the Battle of Bunker Hill, an engraved plate of "The Obelisk on a Platform," nine engraved portraits, and numerous "heliotypes" (including facsimile documents by Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Webster, Lafayette, James Madison, Henry Clay, James Monroe and others). The book contains an inscription from the author on the front end paper, as follows: "Honorable Eugene L. Norton With the Sincere Regards of The Author ~ Aug. 1878" (Norton was a Massachusetts politician who served in the 1850's and 1860's).Condition:There is a small, dark stain at the bottom-left corner of the front cover.
