Maroon cloth over boards, title stamped in gilt onto spine, tall 8vo (9 inches tall), pp. xxviii, 1039, colored endpapers, appendix, index, 12 sketch maps (6 sheets) in pocket at rear. Volume with bump to spine heel and tiny 1/8 inch closed tear to both spine ends, 2 map sheets with tiny dings noted, else fine. Price-intact DJ is rubbed with a touch of soil to back panel and closed tears to edges and spine ends. A clean and unmarked copy. The second edition of this masterful and encyclopedic history of the West.
