About This Item

Chester : Privately published. 358 pp, 10 5/16" H, maroon boards with gilt lettering on spine. B&w photographs, maps, battle plans (many fold-out). "The story of The Regiment in the Great War is mainly confined, in this book, to the Official Honours which we won. The incessant trench-holding which fell to the lot of Line Regiments involved continual calls on the courage and endurance of the men. But it seemed best to confine this history to named battles. Among these, are included some notable feats of arms which have, so far, not been officially recognised as Battle Honours." In this, the second edition, "The account of the 6th Battalion action at Ancre, 13th to 18th Nov., 1915, has been re-written in the light of fresh information", and other additions and corrections have been made. Covers the Regiments actions in France and Flanders, Gallipoli, Palestine, Macedonia and Mesopotamia. Appendices: The Regiment's Roll of Honour; Victory Marches; Medals of the Great War; Individual Honours; Mobilization. Previous owner's small stamp on front endpapers, corners lightly bumped, bumps/wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, small slight bump on fore-edge of front boards.. Not Signed. Second Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
