T.Cadell & W davies, 1813. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1813. No Edition Remarks. 420 pages. Half bound brown leather with marbled paper covered boards. Volume VI of XII. Binding is shaky, pages slightly loose. Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout, heavier to first and last few pages. Staining to pages throughout. Pen mark and tear to title page. Boards have heavy shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rub wear all over. Slight crushing to spine ends. Wear marks overall. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

Synopsis

The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire was written by English historian Edward Gibbon and published in six volumes. Volume I was published in 1776, and went through six printings. Volumes II and III were published in 1781; volumes IV, V, VI in 1788–89. The original volumes were published in quarto sections, a common publishing practice of the time.
