London, Longman, Brown. 1855-56. a mixed set of early editions of Macaulay's classic history, bound in full hard calf, gilt ruled boards with gilt decorations on the upper covers, extra gilt stamping on the spine, gilt ruled rasied bands, red and black morrocco labels, a very good to fine set. (ds1). Volume V, which is not present here, was issued only in 1861, two years after the author's death in 1859, and was edited by his sister, Lady Trevelyan.
