About This Item

A History of Everyday Things in England, Done in Four Parts of Which this is the third 'The Rise of Industrialism': 1733-1851 Written and Illustrated by Marjorie & C.H.B. Quennell. Hardback, Autumn 1933, first edition, illustrated, published by B.T. Batsford Ltd, London, xii + 222 pages together with 2-page author catalogue and 32-page publisher catalogue at rear. Book may be ex-library though doesn't seem to contain any stamps or marking to that effect but does contain a four-page pamphlet on the note, method and influence of the authors which contains a library stamp (and dates from 1936, so subsequent to publication).

Octavo/8vo, measures around 9" by 6 1/8" by 1 1/4". Pictorial dust jacket displays some age-related marking and scuffing with some tearing and chipping. The jacket has a clear protective plastic cover. Pale blue-grey cloth binding, pictorial front board, blue lettering and detail. Some discolouration to spine and edges of boards. A little marking to binding but quite clean and colouring still vivid. Signs of wear, rubbing at edges. Some slackness to binding but book contents reasonably firm. Page edges a little browned and marked but quite clean. A little tanning. Minor foxing to endpapers but otherwise page surfaces very clean, no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
