Description

Boston: Phillips and Sampson, 1846. (continuing the Title: From Their First Landing, in 1620, Until the Death of King Phillip, in 1679. To Which is Now Added A Historical Account of the Sufferings of the Inhabitants of the Frontier Settlements by the Savages, During the French and Revolutionary Wars; and Also the Particulars of Every Important Engagement with the Indians, in the Southern and Western States and Territories, to the Present Time.") Originally published in 1841; this is a Very Good copy of the First Edition Thus - "a New Edition, with an entire new arrangement, essential corrections, and large additions." This printing seems to be uncommon. Brown cloth binding with a highly decorative spine - a gilt figure of a Native American, standing in full regalia with his musket. Clean text; 320 pages. The text is bright and supple; highly readable, even though it is heavilly foxed. This copy lacks any plates; new endpapers have been added at some time, so the volume is quite sound. Bumped, and some spotting to the covers. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Thus.. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket.
