D. Appleton and Company. Used - Good. 1898. Quarter leather with marble paper covered boards. 8vo. Six volume set published in 1898, 1885, 1891, 1895, 1900, 1906. 622 pp, 656 pp, 584 pp, 630 pp, 577 pp, 658 pp. Top edge gilt. Noticeable shelf wear and scuffing to boards, with significant abrasion to bottom edges of boards. Corners bumped and frayed. Front binding of volume one cracked with title page nearly loose, bindings of other volumes intact. Bookplates to front pastedowns of volumes 3 and 4, previous owner's inscription to front pastedown and ffep of volume 5. Ghost images of frontpieces transferred to adjacent pages in some volumes. Variable natural toning to pages which remain otherwise clean and unmarked. Altogether a set of six voumes in Good condition. (Subject: American History.)
