About This Item

Times Press Ltd./Longbooks, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1965. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition. This brief history is based primarily on a summary of the Scout Movement in the Isle of Man by the late Mr. W. A. Fyffe M.B.E., (which appeared in the Cunningham House Handbook, 1955-56) but also on unique records of the 1st Douglas Group, which contain much information in the form of press cuttings, weekly reports and orders of the Group and often of other Groups, of the earliest days before the first world war. Further information was obtained from a book of cuttings supplied by Mr. Norman Cannell of Ramsey, together with his personal reminiscences; for he was himself a pioneer Boy Scout, and served continuously thereafter as A.S.M., S.M., and District S.M. until 1939. For more recent years the main source is the Cunningham House Bulletin, which has been published regularly since the Autumn of 1944. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 87 pages. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. no Dust Jacket as published..
