London: George Routledge and Sons, 1882. Reprint . Very Good. 5 x 7 inches (12.5 x 18 cm). Complete three volume set. Full calf leather bindings. Spines with five raised bands, morocco title and volume labels, gilt decorated compartments. Marbled page edges, marbled endpapers. Gilt border to boards, gilt decorated board edges, blind tooled turn-ins. Light marking to boards, slight rubbing to edges. Small tear to leather on front board of Volume III. Front joint of Volume I has been reinforced with a linen strip. Good solid bindings with no cracking to joints. Volume II has heavy foxing to half title page and title page plus patches of foxing throughout the text. Volumes I and III have a little light foxing. Previous owner's name to leading blank in each volume (dated 1956). An attractive prize binding set with gilt armorial to front board of Volume I (Birkenhead School) and prize bookplate to front pastedown endpaper of Volume I (dated 1885). Overall condition is Very Good. Please Note: This is a heavy item and international postage will be more than the standard rate.
