New York: Viking Press, 1943. 149pp. Burnt orangle cloth. states "First Published 1943" on the copyright page, indicating a true first edition, first printing. There are white and brown mottling spots on the front panel, less so on the rear panel. Previous owner's name on the front pastedown, foxing to the endpapers, and the text block and illustrations are in excellent conditio. The Price-clipped pictorial jacket (Boy eating donuts from the donut maker) has minor wear to the extremities, and hand-written letters on the upper right corner of the rear panel. in mylar sleeve. This book "tells the story of a boy living in Centerburg, Ohio.
