Orange Thai silk covered boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine and front board with a pasted on print that reproduces a painting by Somnuk Permthongkum, one of the few young Thai artists who painted in the traditional style; it shows various stages of silk weaving in a house on a klong. Glassine sheets are present between large facing color photos. 88 pp 4to. Many captioned colored and B&W plates feature Thompson's House and his art treasures. Commentaries on the plates are at rear end, a ground-plan of the main house with legend and a chronology of Ast Periods of Thailand. The Asian Art collection was assembled by Jim Thompson who was an American businessman who helped revitalize the Thai silk industry in the 1950s. In 1958 he began the construction of a new home to showcase his "objets d'art", amassed during a life of collecting in the Far East. A clean pristine copy.
