About This Item
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1936. First American Edition. First Printing. 8vo. 20cm x 14cm. Publisher's red cloth. Dustjacket. Ttiled in gilt to a decoratively embossed spine, some light edgewear and a hint of staining to the cloth, clean and strong in an attractive but slightly toned example of the dustwrapper with some light marginal wear, darkening to the spine panel, and some shallow chipping to the spine ends, impinging slightly on the title and imprint. Otherwise a very good, clean copy. The author's fifth novel, set in Paris immediately after WW1, and widely to considered to be one of her most atmospheric and complex stories.
