About This Item

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1946. Early Reprint. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Good+/Good+. 12mo. Pp. 238. Red cloth, titles stamped in gray on the cover and spine, top edge dyed red: top edge of boards abraded, age tone transfer to endpapers. In the sultry color illustrated dust jacket, foxed, and with spine faded, edge-wear. A novel of the decay of Southern gentry. The dust jacket illustration, with two women smoldering with pulp instincts, is quite remarkable. Dust jacket preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
